Overview
Welcome to the Skijammers and Boardjammers’ Instructor Training Program! The purpose of the ITP class is the meet the needs of our students who have an interest in training to become Skijammers and Boardjammers instructors. As ninth graders, students are eligible to enter the ITP class.

After successfully completing the class, students will qualify to become a Skijammers or Boardjammers apprentice instructor for the second year of their training program. Having completed this two-year training program, students can apply to become an instructor during their junior and senior years of high school. Placement will depend on our test scores, demonstrations, riding and teaching skills, as well as your enthusiasm!

Training to become a snowsports instructor is a big commitment. We expect our instructors to be professional, prepared, prompt, well organized, safety conscious and respectful of students, as well as of other instructors. During this two-year training program, students will move from being a student, taught by an instructor, to being an instructor, teaching students. This transformation takes a great deal of effort, but we are confident you will find it to be a rewarding experience.

The Skijammers Education Staff has developed one of the most comprehensive training programs in the business. Skijammers will clinic you on how to teach skiing to young people by following the American Teaching System developed by the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI). This training can be used to teach at any PSIA/AASI school across the country and it will also help prepare you for PSIA/AASI certification if you choose to pursue further training.

Before coming to class each week, assigned reading in the notebooks and extra handouts will be expected. Each Saturday session is an important learning segment in our eight-week program. This is your opportunity to learn and become a professional snowsports instructor and improve skiing and riding skills.
